Starliner Update: NASA and Boeing Outline Revised Path Forward
NASA and Boeing have outlined a revised path forward for the CST-100 Starliner spacecraft after several delays. The next step is an uncrewed Starliner-1 flight to the International Space Station, targeted for December or January 2027.
The goal of this mission will be to validate recent remediation efforts following the Starliner CFT mishap and gather data on the spacecraft's performance. If successful, NASA plans to fly astronauts on Starliner-2 by 2028, with NASA astronaut Woody Hoburg assigned as commander for that flight.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman also announced that the agency will begin working with Boeing and United Launch Alliance (ULA) to certify the Vulcan Centaur rocket for Starliner missions. This is expected to provide a sustained transportation solution to the International Space Station and future commercial destinations.
