Stocks Edge Higher as Oil Prices Ease
Wall Street stocks were steady on Tuesday despite some pressure from falling oil prices and rising Treasury yields.
The S&P 500 was mostly unchanged, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 173 points, or 0.4%, as of 10:37 a.m. Eastern time.
The Nasdaq composite rose 0.2% due to gains in Nvidia and Broadcom, two big technology companies that have significant influence over the broader market's direction.
Falling oil prices, which have been a major factor in rising Treasury yields, may be easing some pressure on stocks. Brent crude oil fell 1.5% to $96.41 a barrel after briefly climbing above $100 on Monday.
