Stocks Plummet as Oil Prices Soar Amid Inflation Concerns
The stock market experienced a slump as oil prices surged. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 1.4% while the S&P 500 dropped by 2.3%. Meanwhile, oil prices rose by 5.8%, with Brent crude reaching $75.60 per barrel.
Apple (AAPL) and Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ) were among the top performers in the market. Ero Copper (ERT) also saw a significant increase of 12.4%.
The slump can be attributed to concerns over inflation, which is driving up oil prices. The rise in oil prices may lead to higher production costs for companies, further exacerbating inflationary pressures.
