Stockton Man Sentenced to 55 Years to Life for Wheelchair-Bound Amputee's Murder
On March 31, 2026, around midnight, police responded to reports of a shooting in Stockton. Upon arrival, officers found Derrick Walthall, a wheelchair-bound amputee, dead with multiple gunshot wounds.
Surveillance footage helped identify the suspect and his vehicle, which was tracked using Flock technology to a north Stockton motel. The police determined that Amanda Chapple provided her vehicle to Henry Heath, who shot Walthall, and assisted him in leaving the jurisdiction. Brian Hansen removed the suspect vehicle and firearm.
Heath, 51, was sentenced to 55 years to life in prison for his involvement in Walthall's murder. Chapple and Hansen were each sentenced to five years and four months for their roles in the shooting.
