Streaming Giants Unite: Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube Form New Advocacy Group
Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube have formed a new advocacy group called the Streaming Access and Choice Alliance (SACA) to represent their interests in Washington D.C. The move comes as the streaming industry faces growing competition and regulatory scrutiny.
SACA's debut addresses a gap in representation for internet-based businesses, which has left streaming platforms without a dedicated advocate of their own. The group plans to 'advocate for policies that expand consumer access to high-quality content, preserve choice, and support innovative viewing experiences consumers value.'
The formation of SACA comes as live sports have become a major source of tension in the industry. Both Prime Video and Netflix carry exclusive NFL games this season, pushing the FCC and traditional broadcasters to lobby regulators for rules requiring certain sports programming to remain available through free broadcast television.
