Stripe-Backed OUSD Stablecoin Launches with $1 Billion in Liquidity
Open Standard's OUSD stablecoin has launched with over $1 billion in liquidity and a roster of high-profile partners, including Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe, and Visa. The U.S.-dollar-pegged token allows businesses to mint and redeem OUSD at par without fees or volume caps, while partners collect most of the income generated by the token's reserves.
The stablecoin has gone live natively on blockchain networks such as Ethereum, Base, Solana, and Tempo, with access initially running through Stripe, Mastercard-owned BVNK, and the Visa Stablecoin Platform. Coinbase support is set to begin on October 1.
Tempo reported over $400 million in OUSD liquidity on its first day, with the goal of reaching around $1 billion within a few months. The partner sheet reads like a payments convention, featuring names such as Blackrock, BNY, Standard Chartered, U.S. Bank, Google, and Western Union.
