Suarez's Steady Start Not Enough for Championship Hopes

NASCAR Cup Series driver Daniel Suarez made it into the 2026 postseason Chase with his consistent performance throughout the season, not just relying on a single win.

His Coca-Cola 600 victory was one of three wins in the regular season, but it's his steady starts and finishes that put him in the top spot as the 11th seed. Suarez left Trackhouse Racing at the end of last season to join Spire Motorsports' No. 7 team, which has shown potential with its investments.

The partnership between Suarez and Spire started strong with back-to-back point gains at Daytona and Atlanta's EchoPark Speedway. However, they struggled on road courses, including a subpar finish at COTA and their only DNF of the season at Phoenix. Despite this, they persisted in the top 12 in points.

Now Suarez faces an even tougher challenge as he enters his third Cup Series postseason. With no wins at any of the Chase tracks and facing strong competition, his championship potential is limited. However, he can still aim for a return to the top ten in the final standings, something he's only achieved once before in 2022.
