Lord Alan Sugar has taken to social media to express his frustration at being denied an increase on his American Express credit limit. The billionaire, worth £1.138 billion according to reported figures, claims he spent an hour on the phone with the company speaking to four different people before finally reaching someone in the UK who was aware of his financial status.

However, even this did not result in a positive outcome, as Sugar's request for a credit limit increase was refused due to American Express's system. The businessman took to X to share his story and express his disappointment with the company, calling them 'a bunch of idiots'.

In response to one user who questioned why he needed a credit card given his wealth, Sugar explained that he didn't walk around with bags full of cash and used his cards for everyday purchases. Another user corrected him on the spelling in his original post, prompting Sugar to jokingly respond that they were 'a hero'.
