Sulnorte Maritime Services has expanded its fleet in Brazil with the delivery of its latest harbour tugboat, SN Caraíva. The vessel was built by Rio Maguari Shipyard as part of a three-vessel series, which also includes SN Acaraú and SN Cariri. These tugs were constructed to ABS class and Robert Allan Ltd's RAmparts 2300 design.

SN Caraíva boasts a bollard pull of over 75 tonnes, while its sister ship SN Cariri has a bollard pull of 63 tonnes and a free running speed of 12 knots. The vessels are equipped with Caterpillar diesel engines driving Kongsberg Z-drives and feature a FiFi1 off-ship fire-fighting system.

The delivery of SN Caraíva reinforces Sulnorte's strategy to invest in high-performance assets that can meet the demands of Brazil's main ports. According to Sulnorte, 'SN Caraíva was designed to offer high operational efficiency, safety in manoeuvres and robustness in operations of greater complexity.'
