Sun Group Meets with Boeing to Elevate Vietnam-US Aviation Cooperation

Sun Group's leaders attended a meeting with Boeing in New York on September 21. The meeting was part of General Secretary and President To Lam's working visit to the US, aimed at strengthening Vietnam's aviation capabilities and promoting trade relations between Vietnam and the US.

The meeting focused on elevating cooperation from aircraft procurement to comprehensive development across the aviation sector. Boeing and Vietnamese businesses discussed priorities for long-term cooperation, aiming to advance balanced, harmonious, and sustainable trade relations.

Sun Group is accelerating investment in aviation infrastructure, developing its ecosystem integrating tourism, hospitality, entertainment, and aviation. The group's airline, Sun PhuQuoc Airways, signed an agreement with Boeing in February 2026 to purchase 40 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner widebody aircraft valued at approximately $22.5 billion.

The Phu Quoc International Airport expansion project is expected to increase capacity to 20-24 million passengers per year ahead of APEC 2027, enhancing operational capacity and accommodating modern widebody aircraft like the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350.
