Sunrun has signed an agreement with Voltus to provide energy capacity from its residential solar-plus-storage systems to support AI hyperscalers' data centre power needs in the PJM and MISO regions.

The partnership will help deliver reliable, flexible power to these growing electricity demand hubs. Under the deal, Sunrun will supply a portion of its thousands of residential solar-plus-storage systems to Voltus' Bring Your Own Capacity (BYOC) programmes.

Voltus unveiled its BYOC programme last year, which enables hyperscalers to bring firm, flexible capacity to facilitate data centre interconnection and support the grid. The company recently signed a three-year BYOC agreement with tech giant Google in PJM, providing 100MW of distributed energy resources from local businesses and homes into a Google-funded virtual power plant (VPP).
