Systems Engineer Allan Galpin Passes Away at 90
Allan Thomas Galpin Jr., an esteemed systems engineer and devoted family man, passed away on September 12, 2026, at the age of 90.
Galpin was a proud graduate of Arlington High School and Northeastern University's class of 1958, where he was enrolled in the ROTC. He joined the Army Reserve and earned his 1st Lieutenant rank in the Army Corps of Engineers while stationed at Fort Richardson in Alaska.
After completing his tour, Galpin returned to the Boston area and began a 48-year career as a systems engineer with Honeywell, Digital Equipment Corporation, and Hewlett-Packard. He was an avid skier throughout his life and enjoyed tackling mountains from the Alps to Colorado. In fact, he even purchased a small ski house in Vermont.
Galpin's other passions included playing pickleball at The Mill Works indoor court in Westford, where he would join in round robin matches several days a week until the age of 90. He also enjoyed playing cribbage competitively at the Groton Senior Center and was an avid reader of the news.
