Tajikistan's Somon Air Takes Delivery of First Boeing 737 MAX Jet

Tajikistan's national carrier Somon Air has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX jet, according to an announcement by Boeing. The aircraft is part of a two-airplane lease from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) and represents the first 737 MAX in Tajikistan.

The new plane will be used for short- and medium-haul routes across Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The 737-8 has a range of up to 3,500 nautical miles (6,480 km) and can carry up to 210 passengers depending on configuration.

Boeing Vice President Paul Righi said that Somon Air's trust in Boeing is an honor for the company. He added that the 737 MAX is the right airplane for the airline's modernization.

Somon Air CEO Abdulkosim Valiev stated that the central location of Tajikistan and improved range capability of the Boeing 737-8 give Somon Air opportunities to open new routes with improved economics. He also mentioned that Somon Air values its unique long-term relationship with Boeing.
