Tallahassee May Soon Be Among Amazon's Drone Delivery Cities

Amazon is expanding its drone delivery service to nearly 500 cities and towns by the end of this year, and Tallahassee may soon be on that list. The online retail giant has been working with local officials to explore opportunities for its Prime Air service in the capital city.

A document filed Friday shows that a drone storage unit is set to be installed at an Amazon fulfillment center on Vineyard Drive, according to WCTV. This development suggests that Amazon may soon begin making deliveries by drone in Tallahassee.

The Prime Air service would allow customers to have their packages dropped off the same day, with most arriving within an hour, Amazon spokesperson said in a statement. However, some concerns have been raised nationally over noise levels and privacy issues associated with drone delivery.
