Tangled Remake Tweaks Ending to Give Rapunzel More Agency
The Disney live-action remake of Tangled is in production, and it appears that the film's ending has been tweaked from the original animated version. According to set footage and photos, Rapunzel (played by Teagan Croft) will introduce her parents to Flynn Rider (Milo Manheim), rather than the royal couple forcing him to join their embrace as seen in the animation.
This change is part of a larger trend in Disney's live-action remakes, which have sought to give female leads more agency and autonomy. For example, Aladdin expanded Jasmine's political ambitions, while Beauty and the Beast recast Belle as an inventor.
The film's set has also been transformed for the live-action version, with Corona's colors changed from royal purple to blue (although this change sparked some backlash). The costumes and setting appear to be largely faithful to the original animation, however.
