Target Takes on Walmart with Wild Alaskan Seafood Expansion
Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) is expanding its grocery offerings by partnering with Wild Alaskan Company, a subscription seafood brand based in Homer, Alaska. The partnership brings five products to Target's nationwide retail network, marking a significant shift for the company.
The rollout began on September 13 and will continue to expand across Target locations over the following weeks. This move comes as part of Target's broader push into health and wellness, a strategic priority aimed at differentiating its grocery offerings from larger rivals like Walmart (NYSE: WMT).
Wild Alaskan Company built its business on a direct-to-consumer subscription model, which has given it nearly a decade of subscriber purchasing data in the frozen seafood category. The brand previously sold through Target Plus, the retailer's third-party online marketplace.
