TAROM Takes First Boeing 737 MAX Delivery
Romanian flag carrier TAROM is marking a major milestone in its fleet modernization programme with the delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX. The aircraft, named 'Mircea Lucescu' after the renowned Romanian football coach, will operate from Seattle to Keflavík, Iceland, before continuing to Bucharest.
The Boeing 737-8 is being collected by TAROM crews from Boeing's facilities in Seattle. Two TAROM crews have been assigned to bring the aircraft to its new home in Bucharest. The first leg between Seattle and Keflavík will be operated by Captain Cătălin Prunariu, together with instructor captains Alexandru Scarlatescu and Alexandru Dobre.
The arrival of the Boeing 737 MAX represents one of the most significant steps yet in TAROM's ongoing fleet renewal programme. The aircraft is expected to depart for Romania over the weekend, operating the Seattle, Keflavík, Bucharest delivery route.
