Teams Meetings Get Boost with External Bot Block Feature
Microsoft has bolstered security in Teams meetings by introducing a feature that allows administrators to block identified external bots from joining. This new option, part of an update released on September 23, gives IT teams more control over who can attend virtual gatherings.
The 'Automatically block identified external bots' feature is designed to prevent unwanted visitors from crashing meetings and posing potential security risks. By enabling this setting, organizations will be able to see a representation of external bots in the meeting lobby, giving organizers greater visibility and control.
Alongside this new security measure, Microsoft has also updated Teams to enable administrators to manage app and agent installations more efficiently. This change allows admins to install apps and agents across Teams, Outlook, and Microsoft 365 Copilot from either the Microsoft 365 admin center or Teams admin center.
