Security guards at major tech companies in California are planning to strike on Friday, potentially disrupting office operations and prompting work-from-home orders. The strike notice was submitted by the SEIU-UWW union, which represents around 14,000 security officers in the state.

The affected companies include Amazon, Google, Meta, OpenAI, Anthropic, Nvidia, and Salesforce. Anthropic had already instructed its San Francisco staff to work remotely for two days due to concerns about the strike.

The union is seeking higher wages, better healthcare, and more comprehensive job training in new contract negotiations with security staffing firms. The negotiations have dragged on for months, with the union planning a march through downtown San Francisco to Salesforce Tower on Tuesday.
