Over 100 companies, including tech giants OpenAI, Microsoft (MSFT), Alphabet (GOOGL), and Amazon (AMZN), have signed an open letter urging businesses and governments to prioritize AI-driven cyber defense amid growing concerns about sophisticated attacks.

The letter warns that AI-enabled cyberattacks will become 'far more widespread and sophisticated' as AI models become increasingly capable, leaving a 'limited window to strengthen cyber defenses.'

Recent incidents involving OpenAI's and Anthropic's models have raised red flags about the potential for AI systems to carry out attacks at scale.

The signatories, which include CrowdStrike (CRWD), Broadcom (AVGO), General Motors (GM), IBM (IBM), Mastercard (MA), Oracle (ORCL), Robinhood (HOOD), and Visa (V), call on organizations, governments, and technology companies to make cyber defense an immediate leadership priority.

The letter also highlights the potential for AI models to help defenders fix security weaknesses and strengthen cyber defenses.
