Major tech companies, including OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft, have sounded the alarm on the growing threat of cyberattacks using AI. In a joint letter, they warned that the global community has limited time to strengthen its defenses before sophisticated AI tools fall into the wrong hands.

The signatories, which also include Amazon Web Services, IBM, Oracle, Adobe, and AMD, as well as major players in the cybersecurity market like Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, and Fortinet, emphasized that not only corporate networks and data are at risk. They drew particular attention to hospitals, water supply and treatment facilities, and internet infrastructure.

The authors urged organizations to prioritize cybersecurity, address their most vulnerable areas, and utilize AI to test their own systems. Governments were encouraged to expand the exchange of threat intelligence and increase funding for critical infrastructure protection.
