Tech leaders face mounting pressure to prove the value of their investments in cloud and AI, as organisations struggle to scale and transform their capabilities.

A recent study by IBM Apptio found that many FinOps teams in the region still rely on cloud-native tools for cost management, leaving significant blind spots across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

Pete Wilson, Vice President and General Manager of IBM Apptio Business APAC, notes that technology leaders are under pressure to explain how their spending makes sense in business terms, not just the amount they spend.

The study found that only 13% of FinOps teams have fully allocated AI and machine-learning cloud costs back to the business, highlighting the challenges around forecasting and cost management.
