Teen Shot in Antioch as Nashville Sees Decline in Youth Violence

A teenager was shot in Antioch on Sunday night, but according to the Metro Nashville Police Department, he is expected to recover. The victim, a 16-year-old boy, told officers that he was walking along Hobson Pike when he was hit by a bullet and then driven to the Home Depot on Bell Road for treatment.

The shooting is a concerning development in the ongoing efforts of community leaders to curb youth violence across Nashville. Clemmie Greenlee, founder of Nashville Peacemakers, described the situation as 'beyond sad' and 'scary.'

Nashville Peacemakers, a nonprofit focused on violence intervention, has been working directly with young people and mothers to prevent violence before it starts. The organization recently opened a new home base.

Steven Anderson, who works with Nashville Peacemakers, emphasized the importance of providing positive alternatives to young people. 'Pick up something else besides a gun; pick up something else besides a weapon,' he urged.
