Telcos Partner on Sovereign AI and Next-Gen Mobile Networks
Canada's Bell Canada is teaming up with Cisco to develop a sovereign AI infrastructure for Canadian businesses. The partnership aims to bring together Bell's datacentre, network and operations capabilities with Cisco's AI, security, observability, infrastructure monitoring and management, and Sovereign Critical Infrastructure technologies. This collaboration will focus on three core areas: building a Canadian platform for sovereign AI; supporting modular AI infrastructure deployments; and developing flexible commercial models.
Ericsson has signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Japanese tech firms Murata Manufacturing and Sumitomo Electric Industries to explore next-generation mobile network technologies. The partners will develop technologies that enhance network performance, reduce energy consumption, and support resilient communications systems in the 6G and AI era.
Orange Business has been chosen by the European Union as the key network partner for a project linking administration organisations across EU member states. Orange will provide a highly secure private communications backbone that connects institutions, bodies, and agencies across the EU, using its Network Operating Center and Security Operating Center to support the network through 12 points of presence.
Helix Digital Infrastructure has received a $1bn joint investment from Samsung Electronics and five affiliates. The AI infrastructure startup was launched in June with $10bn in capital from anchor investors Nvidia, private equity firm KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), and power-generation giant Vistra. Helix aims to deliver integrated solutions across the entire value chain, including hyperscale datacentre development and operations.
