Telecom Giants Unite for Sovereign AI and Next-Gen Networks
Bell Canada has partnered with Cisco to develop a sovereign AI infrastructure for Canadian businesses. The two companies will focus on three core areas: building a Canadian platform for sovereign AI, supporting modular AI infrastructure deployments, and developing flexible commercial models.
The collaboration aims to give customers more choice and control over where critical systems and data are located, secured, and managed. According to John Watson, Bell Canada's group president for business markets, the partnership will help turn sovereign AI from ambition into infrastructure that Canadian organizations can use.
Ericsson has signed memoranda of understanding with Japanese tech firms Murata Manufacturing and Sumitomo Electric Industries to explore next-generation mobile network technologies. The partners aim to enhance network performance and reduce energy consumption while supporting resilient and trusted communications systems in the 6G and AI era.
In another development, Orange Business has been selected by the European Union to securely connect public administration organizations across EU member states. The company will provide a highly secure private communications backbone that links institutions, bodies, and agencies across the EU.
