Tensor G6 SoC Powers New Pixel 11 Series with Improved Efficiency and AI
Google has unveiled its latest Tensor G6 system-on-chip (SoC), which powers the new Pixel 11 series. The focus is on power efficiency and on-device AI capabilities, addressing previous criticisms of earlier generations.
The Tensor G6 boasts up to a 20% improvement in CPU power efficiency compared to the Tensor G5, resulting in faster web browsing and app loading times. Google has also optimized the chip for demanding mobile titles like Asphalt Legends and Disney Speedstorm.
Other key upgrades include an upgraded Imaging Signal Processor (ISP) with a dedicated hardware accelerator, enabling 4K Portrait Video on Pixel devices for the first time. The Tensor G6 also enables Instant Night Sight, which allows for faster low-light photography without sacrificing quality.
