Ternus Drives Apple Towards M&A in AI Arms Race
Wedbush analyst Dan Ives believes Apple's new CEO John Ternus will pursue mergers and acquisitions to strengthen the company in the AI arms race. According to Ives, M&A is the 'missing piece' for Apple to compete effectively in this space.
Ternus is expected to depart from his predecessor Tim Cook's strategy, which may have limited growth opportunities over the last decade. Ives anticipates a clear shift under Ternus, with hardware changes and potential acquisitions in the AI era.
The new CEO will also assemble a leadership team combining internal veterans with external executives, blending old ideas with new ones to bring innovation back to Apple. With its 'golden install base' of 1.5 billion iPhones and over 2 billion total iOS devices, Ternus's success will be measured by his ability to monetize this advantage in the AI era.
Apple stock has been performing well, closing at $325.13 on Tuesday with a 2.61% increase and a year-to-date gain of 19.59%.
