Ternus to Lead Apple into M&A Era with New AI-Focused Strategy
Apple's new CEO John Ternus is expected to usher in a new era of mergers and acquisitions, according to Dan Ives, Senior Managing Director at Yorkville Ives. This shift is seen as crucial for Apple to compete in the accelerating artificial intelligence arms race.
Ives believes that Ternus will bring renewed innovation to the company, including hardware changes and strategic partnerships through M&A. He noted that Apple's previous strategy under former CEO Tim Cook may have caused the company to miss out on certain growth opportunities over the last decade.
Ternus is also expected to assemble a team of internal Cupertino veterans alongside new external executives, combining 'old ideas' with 'new ideas' to bring innovation back to the company. The ultimate test for Ternus will be effectively monetizing Apple's 'golden install base' of 1.5 billion iPhones and over 2 billion total iOS devices.
