Tesla Cybercab Takes On Uber in Robotaxi Showdown

Tesla has launched its Cybercab robotaxi service in Austin, marking the first commercial attempt at using vehicles designed exclusively for autonomous ride-hailing.

The service is still limited and Tesla's long-term goal of reducing ride costs to a fraction of today's prices by eliminating human drivers remains uncertain.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has argued that autonomy could achieve lower operating costs, but the company must scale its Cybercab production quickly enough to make this vision a reality.

Meanwhile, Uber is pursuing a different strategy, focusing on assembling an autonomous fleet through partnerships with various developers, including Alphabet's Waymo and Amazon's Zoox.
