Tesla Expands Forecasted Supercharger Availability to Android Auto Users
Tesla has expanded its forecasted Supercharger availability feature to all EVs that can use Android Auto, providing owners of non-Tesla vehicles with more convenient charging experiences.
This move follows Tesla's previous effort in November 2025, when the company provided live Supercharger availability to Google Maps and other navigation providers, allowing owners of non-Tesla EVs to see if a charger is working or not and how many stalls are available.
As more EVs hit the roads, knowing where chargers are is no longer enough; owners want predictability so they can plan their charging stops accordingly. Tesla has been offering this feature to its vehicles since 2017, but with Superchargers now open to third-party EVs, the company has expanded these intelligent features.
Max de Zegher, Tesla Supercharger boss, announced in November 2025 that his company would expand intelligent features, including forecasted availability, to all navigation providers who share back routing data. Google Maps was again the only navigation app that satisfied this request for sharing traffic data, with the forecasted availability feature debuting in June on EVs with Google Maps built-in.
To benefit from this new feature, third-party EV drivers must enable trip and usage data sharing with Tesla in the Google Maps settings. The feature is rolling out globally, so it should be available to users worldwide if they have an EV with Google Maps built-in or Android Auto support.
