AstraZeneca and Amgen's Tezspire (tezepelumab) has demonstrated positive results in its Phase III CROSSING trial for eosinophilic esophagitis, a chronic inflammatory disorder that affects over 470,000 people in the US.

The trial showed that patients treated with Tezspire experienced statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvements in both co-primary endpoints: histologic remission and frequency/severity of dysphagia compared to placebo at week 24. These results were sustained through week 52 for both doses tested.

Arjan Bredenoord, a gastroenterologist and primary investigator in the trial, stated that despite current treatments failing many patients with EoE, Tezspire 'could provide a new approach to treating this disease'.
