Thai Airways Bolsters Pilot Training with New Boeing 787 Simulator

Thai Airways International (THAI) has expanded its widebody pilot-training capabilities by adding a new Boeing 787 full-flight simulator from CAE. This investment marks the second new widebody simulator acquisition involving CAE and THAI this year, following the addition of an Airbus A350 FFS in February.

The 787 development is part of THAI's long-term fleet renewal program, which aims to increase its Dreamliner fleet as it prepares for further aircraft deliveries. As of August 24, 2026, THAI operates 84 aircraft, comprising 58 widebodies and 26 narrowbodies.

The airline has taken delivery of three Boeing 787-8s and one 787-9 during the first six months of 2026 and plans to receive 10 additional 787-8 deliveries and four 787-9 deliveries this year. THAI also has a firm order with Boeing for 45 Boeing 787-9s, announced in February 2024.
