The Home Depot Expands Magic Apron to Deliver Hyper-Personalized In-Store Guidance
The Home Depot has expanded its AI-powered shopping assistant, Magic Apron, to provide customers with personalized and localized in-store guidance. This expansion is now live in all 2,000+ U.S. stores, allowing shoppers to access the service directly through the Store Mode feature on The Home Depot mobile app or by scanning a QR code on in-store signage.
With Magic Apron, customers can ask product-specific questions via text, voice-to-text, image uploads, and conversations in multiple languages. They can also get help determining whether a product is right for their project, receive recommendations on tools and supplies needed to complete a job, and access the map for their chosen store to find product aisle and bay locations quickly.
The company's EVP of Interconnected Retail, Jordan Broggi, stated that customers come to The Home Depot for expert guidance and want their shopping experience to be easy and efficient. Magic Apron brings the best of the company's digital expertise into the physical store, helping customers find products, get project guidance, and make decisions faster.
During pilot testing, customers shared positive feedback, stating that the new features help them locate products more quickly, improve their confidence in purchasing decisions, and better understand product compatibility. The expansion of Magic Apron builds upon the company's Store Mode feature, which was originally launched in 2022 to help customers shop more efficiently with barcode scanning, improved wayfinding, and other store information.
