TikTok Launches AI Shopping Assistant and Direct Checkout Feature
TikTok is expanding its e-commerce capabilities with two new features: a direct checkout option and an AI shopping assistant. The checkout feature allows users to purchase products directly from brands within the app, separate from TikTok Shop. The AI assistant is designed to guide users toward making purchases. Both features are now rolling out to users and brands in the U.S.
The company announced the updates on Monday, highlighting partnerships with multiple commerce platforms and payment providers, including Salesforce, Shopify, Shoplazza, and Stripe. According to David Kaufman, global head of monetization and product partnerships at TikTok, the goal is to streamline the shopping journey from discovery to transaction by leveraging AI.
Kaufman emphasized the potential of AI to enhance the shopping experience, stating, 'We’re trying to move people from discovery all the way through to action, and there’s a lot that we can do to bring AI to that journey.' The new features aim to make the shopping process more seamless and integrated within the TikTok platform.
