TikTok Stars Get Disney License: Creators to Use Iconic Characters in Short-Form Videos
Disney has struck a deal with TikTok to allow creators to use its iconic characters and memorable scenes from its back catalogue in short-form vertical videos.
The move marks Disney's latest attempt to sanction the use of its intellectual property by third parties, following a controversial arrangement with OpenAI's Sora video-generation tool last year.
Under the deal, creators will be given access to an expansive collection of curated content featuring characters and stories from across Disney's brands, including Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars.
Dawn Yang, TikTok's global head of entertainment, said: 'Creators are at the heart of everything we do at TikTok. Their creativity extends the life of films and shows into conversations that fans discover and share.'
