To Lam Signs Agreements with US Firms Amid Trade Tensions
Vietnam's leader To Lam is set to sign agreements with U.S. corporations in New York next week, as part of his trip to mollify Washington amid trade tensions.
The agreements involve energy, tech, aviation, and financial firms, many of which are expected to be non-binding.
U.S. energy firms Murphy Oil and Chevron will announce deals with state-owned Petrovietnam, while ExxonMobil is slated to sign an accord with Vietnam Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation.
The agreements are part of Vietnam's strategy to ease trade tensions with the U.S., which has threatened new tariffs on the Southeast Asian nation.
