Tokenomics Foundation Launches to Tackle Complexities of AI Spend
The Tokenomics Foundation has officially launched, bringing together some of the biggest names in technology and finance to tackle the complexities of AI spend.
The foundation's goal is to establish a consistent framework for evaluating and optimizing AI costs across various models, use cases, and architectural choices. This will involve creating a methodology for relating AI spend to outcomes, including measuring the share of work completed without human involvement compared to current process costs.
Board members include Arvind Joshi, COO and CFO at JPMorganChase, who stated that 'the rate of change in AI consumption is unlike anything we have managed before.' Nishant Gupta, Chief Availability Officer at Salesforce, noted that token economics are fundamentally more opaque than anything previously managed at this scale.
J.R. Storment, Executive Director of the Tokenomics Foundation, emphasized the need for a shared way to count AI costs, stating that 'every CEO is being asked to show returns on all of that without a shared way to count it.' The foundation aims to develop pre-competitive frameworks, benchmarks, and specifications in the open, enabling the global economy to accelerate value from AI rather than just accounting for spend.
