Topo Chico Returns After Mexico Water Source Issues

The Topo Chico water shortage that began in February is finally coming to an end. The problem was caused by quality issues related to the geology of the water wells in Monterrey, Mexico, which are used by Coca-Cola to source Topo Chico Mineral Water.

Coca-Cola announced a phased return of Topo Chico to store shelves in Texas, with plans for additional states to receive the mineral water in 2027. The company cited the need for several months to upgrade its production facilities and improve source stability and quality.

The shortage only affected the glass-bottled Topo Chico Mineral Water product, while other drinks such as flavored sparkling water and canned cocktails remained available. Coca-Cola purchased Topo Chico in 2017 and has been investing in the brand's premium products as drinkers shift away from sugary sodas.
