American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) has seen significant institutional investment in recent quarters. In the second quarter, Trajan Wealth LLC purchased a new position in American Express, buying 67,796 shares valued at approximately $22,932,000.

Other notable institutional investors have also increased their stakes in American Express. BlackRock Inc., for example, acquired a new stake worth about $14,208,662,000 during the second quarter. Norges Bank purchased a new position in shares of American Express in the fourth quarter, valued at approximately $2,464,215,000.

Capital World Investors increased its position in shares of American Express by 46.7% during the fourth quarter and now owns 7,515,675 shares of the payment services company's stock valued at $2,780,424,000.
