Travel Agent Virginia Kandel Dies Aged 81

Virginia Ann Kandel, affectionately known as 'Jitter' to family and friends, passed away on August 2, 2026, at the age of 81. She was born in Abilene, Texas, on February 14, 1945, and grew up in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Kandel built a career as a travel agent with American Express Travel, where she enjoyed helping others create memorable journeys and experiences. Outside of work, she found happiness in her hobbies, including sewing, quilting, cooking, especially Chinese cuisine, and birdwatching.

Virginia had a special affection for birds and volunteered with the USO, supporting service members and their families. She made her home in Arizona for 14 years, where she continued to enjoy her hobbies and friendships. Kandel will be remembered for her free spirit, creative talents, warm hospitality, and love shared with those fortunate enough to know her.
