A beloved True Value Hardware store in New York is holding liquidation sales after more than 50 years in business.

The Ilion, NY location, which was opened by Dick and Mary Ann Cristiano in August 1974, has been a staple in the community for decades.

The store's owners are remaining open until their inventory is completely gone, with liquidation sales beginning in early August. The exact closure date depends on how fast everything sells out.

Owen Hanlon, who took over operations with his wife Debra after her parents' deaths, noted that the family was proud to have merchandise that some big-box competitors like Home Depot and Lowe's didn't carry.
