Trump Administration Revokes Over 250K Visas Amid Concerns of National Security
The US State Department has revoked over 250,000 visas since President Trump took office in his second term. This milestone reflects the administration's commitment to protecting American citizens.
The revocations came after foreign nationals were found to have violated visa terms or committed crimes such as violence against Americans, defrauding citizens, and endangering national security. The majority of the revoked visas resulted from law enforcement encounters with the foreign nationals for these crimes.
The State Department cited specific examples of crimes committed by foreign nationals whose visas were revoked, including one who was charged with felony kidnapping, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation of a minor; another who was arrested for driving with heroin and a blood alcohol level more than three times the legal limit; and one who helped orchestrate a $5 million Medicaid scam.
The State Department also addressed birth tourism, where pregnant foreign nationals travel to the US to give birth so their child automatically receives citizenship. Over 2,300 visas were revoked in connection with this practice.
