Trump Administration Seeks Oil Boost Amid Rising Prices Due to Iran War
The White House is organizing a call between U.S. Interior and Energy Department heads and CEOs from major energy companies, including Exxon and Chevron, to discuss potential boosts in oil and gas output amidst rising global prices due to the Iran war.
Global oil prices have spiked 4.6% to above $99 a barrel as traders question whether peace talks between the U.S. and Iran will resolve disruptions to Middle Eastern energy supplies caused by the war.
The call is being led by Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and Energy Secretary Chris Wright, who are part of President Donald Trump's National Energy Dominance Council.
