US President Donald Trump has taken to social media to demand that oil companies cut fuel prices immediately. In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that Chevron's success would be significantly weaker without his administration's 'genius, foresight, strength, and stability'. He pointed to the company's return to Venezuela as evidence of this.

Trump criticized Chevron CEO Mike Wirth for failing to acknowledge his administration's role in the company's success. The President also took a shot at the wider oil industry, calling on companies to lower prices at the pump. 'Get your consumer (retail!) Oil Prices DOWN, NOW!' he wrote.

The demand comes as gasoline prices have risen following the US-Israel war on Iran. Trump has repeatedly promised that fuel prices would fall sharply once the conflict with Iran ends, but economists have questioned these claims and warned of longer-lasting economic consequences.
