Trump Demands Oil Companies Lower Gas Prices Amid Election Risk
U.S. President Donald Trump has renewed his call for lower gas prices, targeting oil companies and their CEOs in a social media post.
In a statement on Truth Social, Trump blasted Chevron CEO Mike Wirth for failing to credit the administration's efforts in helping the oil industry, specifically mentioning the creation of a market in Venezuela. Trump wrote that without his administration's support, 'the Oil Industry, and our Country itself, would be DEAD!'
The president has been vocal about high gas prices ahead of November's midterm elections, which pose a risk to his Republican Party's control of Congress.
