Trump Demands Oil Companies Lower Gas Prices Amid US-Iran Tensions
US President Donald Trump has called on major oil companies in his country to lower gas prices for consumers as soon as possible. In a statement on Truth Social, Trump said he was unhappy with the size of profits made by several large oil companies, including Chevron and ExxonMobil.
'They make too much money. I don't like it... Chevron, too much money. ExxonMobil, too much money,' Trump wrote. He claimed that these companies had made profits up to 12 times higher than the previous year and should return part of their income to the community.
Trump's call comes amid ongoing tensions between the US and Iran, which have affected the world energy market. In June, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned fuel retailers that they could face consequences if they excessively raised prices.
