Trump Hails Boeing Aircraft Design After Flydubai Plane Survives Record-Setting Descent
President Donald Trump has praised the Boeing Co.'s (NYSE:BA) 737 MAX aircraft for its 'precise and powerful structural planning and design' after a Flydubai plane survived a rapid descent of 17,400 feet. The incident occurred on Wednesday when an Israel-bound flight made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after the pilot was allegedly stabbed during a cockpit altercation.
Trump commended Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg and his team for the aircraft's resilience, stating that it managed to withstand forces 'far beyond' its design. He also credited Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and the Commerce Department for supporting Boeing's deals with Turkish Airlines and Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
The President discussed the incident with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who told him a passenger with no flying experience took control after hearing cockpit screams and helped level the plane. This was confirmed by The Times of Israel, which identified the passenger as Yaniv Hayun.
