Clare County Council members praised Cllr Joe Killeen's role as Cathaoirleach during US President Donald Trump's visit to Doonbeg in September. The council members reflected on the county's hosting of the Amgen Irish Open and President Trump's visit, calling it a 'monumental' event for North and West Clare.

Cllr Shane Talty (FF) joked that President Trump was missing one thing during his visit - the Cathaoirleach's chain. The chain is worn by Cllr Killeen in his role as Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council, and Cllr Talty quipped that there was 'clear jealousy' among others about not having it.

Cllr Pat Daly (FF) also praised Cllr Killeen's role during the President's visit, saying he had done a good job in speaking with the President. The US President had announced during his visit that the US would remove its 10% tariff on Irish whiskey.
