Trump Praises Boeing After Failed Hijacking of Flydubai Flight
US President Donald Trump praised Boeing for producing a plane that could withstand extreme forces and strain during an attempted hijacking of a Flydubai flight. The incident occurred on a 737 MAX 8 aircraft, which plummeted about 17,400 feet in less than two minutes as the pilots fought for control.
The alleged hijacker stabbed one of the pilots before attempting to crash the plane, but passengers and crew members subdued him, allowing two off-duty pilots to take control. The flight was en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv with 174 passengers, mostly Israelis.
Trump's message on social media congratulated Boeing for producing a 'genius' aircraft that could withstand extreme forces. He praised the company's CEO, Kelly Ortberg, and his team for their work in designing the plane.
The president has previously praised Boeing as an American success story and has highlighted the company's sales to countries in the Middle East during his foreign policy efforts.
