Trump Scolds Oil CEOs over Fuel Prices Amid Midterm Election Pressure
US President Donald Trump has renewed his call for oil companies to lower fuel prices for American consumers. He made the remarks on August 3 in a post on his Truth Social platform, where he criticized Chevron CEO Mike Wirth for omitting the role of his administration in strengthening the US energy sector.
In his statement, Trump mentioned that Wirth had conveniently forgotten to mention the 'genius, foresight, strength, and stability' provided by his administration. He also cited Chevron's operations in Venezuela, saying the company was forced out but returned under his policies.
The pressure on fuel prices comes as rising costs driven by the conflict with Iran and cost-of-living concerns pose a political challenge for Trump ahead of the US congressional midterm elections in November.
